Garhwali is a language spoken by the people of the hilly Garhwal Division of Uttrarkhand. Garhwali belongs to the group of Pahari Language. Devanagari is a script used for Garhwali. The sub language of Garhwali are : Tehri/Sailani (Gangapariya) - spoken in Tehri Garhwal, Srinagari - classical Garhwali spoken in erstwhile royal capital, similar to Pauri, Lohbya, Majh-Kumaiya, Bhattiani, Nagpuriya, Rathi, Parvati - reportedly not mutually intelligible with other dialects, Jaunpuri, Gangadi (Uttarkashi), Chandpuri, Salani (Pauri), Ravai, Bangani, Jadhi - Spoken in parts of Uttarkashi, Jaunsari - spoken in Jaunsar-Babar area (strongly related to neighbouring Himachali dialects), only limited mutual intelligibility with the other dialects, Badhani and Dessaulya.
